1 John 5:6-12
In 1 John 5:6–12, the Apostle John urges us to look past human opinions and heed the testimony of God Himself. From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture declares one unchanging truth: Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and eternal life is found in Him alone. Through the water, the blood, and the Spirit, God provides three divine witnesses that perfectly affirm the deity, mission, and finished work of His Son.
The water testifies at His baptism, when the Father’s voice declared, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” The blood bears witness at the cross, where darkness fell, the veil was torn, and redemption was accomplished, opening the way to God. The Spirit of truth continues to testify in every generation, convicting hearts, illuminating minds, and confirming to believers that Jesus is Lord. Together, these three leave the world without excuse.
John calls every heart to respond: Will you receive this testimony? To believe is to embrace eternal life within, to reject it is to remain in darkness. God has spoken clearly — Jesus is life. Those who have Him possess life; those who do not remain separated from His light. How will you respond to the unchanging testimony of Christ in your own life today?
