2 Corinthians 11:7-15
Not every voice claiming to speak for God is truly from Him. In this passage, Paul warns of the subtle danger of deception—those who appear righteous, spiritual, or appealing may conceal motives that lead hearts away from Christ. Satan thrives in disguise, cloaking darkness in light, making the false appear convincing, even holy.
Paul’s ministry stands in stark contrast: humble, sacrificial, and rooted in truth. He refused to profit from the gospel, serving freely so that no one could question his motives. His example challenges us today to discern between what flatters and what is faithful, to follow the truth of God’s Word even when it confronts our comfort or pride. The gospel remains the unchanging truth of a good God who saves by grace, untainted by human manipulation.
Believers are called to cultivate discernment, testing every teaching and examining every spirit. The greatest threats often arise from within, hidden behind polished words and flattering appearances. While Satan may disguise himself as an angel of light, his schemes are temporary; the truth of Christ endures forever. Reflect: where might you need to sharpen your spiritual discernment, and how can you anchor yourself more firmly in the eternal light of God’s Word?
