Romans 7:14-25
Romans 7:14–25 offers one of Scripture’s most honest and heartfelt confessions. After years of walking with Christ, the Apostle Paul reveals the battle that still rages within—the tension between his redeemed spirit and his unredeemed flesh. Though saved by grace, sin still lurks close, tempting and pulling at human weakness. The closer Paul draws to God, the more vividly he sees his own shortcomings.
This passage is not about failure—it is about fellowship. It reflects the daily reality of every believer: freed from the slavery of sin, yet still dwelling in a mortal body where temptation lingers. Maturity in Christ does not eliminate sin by strength, but by a broken heart attuned to God. The closer we walk with Him, the more our hearts grieve over what displeases Him, and the more love reshapes our desires.
Paul’s cry, “O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?” resonates with anyone longing for holiness. The answer remains the same: “Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Though the struggle continues, victory is assured. Every battle reminds us of our need for grace and the glorious hope that awaits in Christ. How does this tension between struggle and salvation shape your daily walk with Him?
