Acts 9:10-19
In this passage of Scripture, we witness the miraculous moment when God transforms a persecutor into a preacher, using ordinary obedience to accomplish extraordinary grace. Saul, blinded on the road to Damascus, was humbled and helpless, stripped of pride and power. In that place of waiting, God was preparing a heart for transformation. At the same time, He was preparing Ananias—the one He would send to restore Saul’s sight and confirm his new birth in the Spirit. This story is a powerful reminder that God’s work often flows through willing hearts.
Ananias faced fear and hesitation. Saul was notorious for persecuting believers, yet when God called, he responded, “Here am I, Lord.” His obedience became the bridge between darkness and destiny. When he laid hands on Saul, the scales fell from his eyes—a vivid picture of Christ removing sin and opening hearts to truth. The true “spot remover” was not human effort, but Jesus Himself, who cleanses, heals, and makes us new.
No self-effort or moral striving can remove spiritual blindness. Divine grace alone restores, transforming guilt into peace, hostility into love, and blindness into sight. God takes ordinary vessels and fills them with His Spirit, turning the broken into instruments of His glory. The same Lord who transformed Saul into Paul continues to call, cleanse, and empower ordinary people for extraordinary purposes. How might God be inviting you to step into obedience, trusting Him to transform your life and the lives of those around you?
