Acts 6:8-15
This teaching highlights the radiant faith of Stephen, the first Christian martyr, whose devotion and courage ignited the gospel beyond Jerusalem. Chosen to serve faithfully in the early church, Stephen was full of faith, filled with the Holy Spirit, and overflowing with wisdom. When opposition arose, he stood unshaken, and the light of God’s glory shone from his face like that of an angel—a reflection of a heart fully surrendered to Christ rather than human strength.
Stephen’s example reminds us that true courage flows from intimacy with God. Faith does not shield us from suffering, but it equips us to face lies with truth, hatred with grace, and persecution with peace. Even as the crowd raged and false witnesses accused him, God’s presence confirmed his witness. His life demonstrates that the beauty of holiness shines brightest in the darkness of opposition, just as Moses’ face radiated God’s glory after encountering Him.
In a world where compromise is common and role models are rare, Stephen’s life calls us to deeper devotion. We are invited to reflect Christ’s light even in the face of hostility, letting our faith shine so others see the unmistakable radiance of heaven. How might your life today reflect the light of God’s presence, even amidst opposition or challenge?
