Romans 1:16-23
This passage explores a sobering truth: God’s righteousness and His wrath are both real, active, and intended to draw us to Christ. Paul boldly declares, “I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God unto salvation.” The gospel is not mere advice—it is divine power, able to transform hearts, cleanse sin, and rescue souls from eternal separation from God. Yet, when humanity rejects this truth, it becomes fuel for the fire of God’s righteous judgment.
From creation itself, God has left testimony of His existence. Every sunrise, every heartbeat, every star in the night sky proclaims His majesty. The evidence surrounds us, leaving no excuse for unbelief. When pride overtakes humility, self-rule replaces surrender, and idols replace the living God, hearts grow dark, light fades, and wisdom turns to folly. Still, God’s desire is not destruction, but redemption.
His wrath is not the absence of love—it is the consequence of rejecting it. Every soul stands accountable before a holy God, yet the same God who reveals His judgment has revealed His grace through Jesus Christ. The only escape from the fire is faith in the One who bore it for us on the cross. The question remains: will we cling to our pride, or will we receive the mercy that alone saves?
