Acts 15:1-11
Acts 15:1–11 transports us to a pivotal moment in the early church, where the truth of the gospel faced challenge and confusion. As the message of salvation spread from Jerusalem to Antioch, questions arose about the necessity of following the law of Moses alongside faith in Christ. False teachings threatened to obscure the simple, unshakable truth: righteousness comes by grace through faith alone, not by human effort or ritual. The apostles, guided by the Spirit, confronted this error and reminded the church that salvation is God’s work, not ours.
Peter’s declaration stands timeless: God purified the hearts of Gentiles through faith, not through ceremonies or human striving. Salvation is a gift, fully completed in Jesus Christ, accessible to all who believe. This moment serves as a vivid reminder that the gospel cannot be improved, earned, or supplemented—it is perfect in its simplicity and powerful in its promise. Like a bell ringing across history, the truth calls every believer to rest, repentance, and confidence in the finished work of the Savior.
For us today, the challenge remains: will we cling to human traditions or embrace the freedom of grace? Will we allow confusion to cloud the gospel, or will we stand firm in the clarity of Christ’s redeeming work? Acts 15 invites reflection and response: are we living in the simplicity and sufficiency of grace, letting the Word of God guide our hearts, and trusting fully in Jesus for our salvation?
