Acts 21:1-16
Courage is not the absence of fear but the choice to obey God even when the path ahead is uncertain and dangerous. The journey of Paul in Acts reminds us that stepping forward in faith often leads into trials, yet obedience rooted in conviction outweighs the comfort of safety. Paul moved resolutely toward Jerusalem, aware of the suffering that awaited him, yet his eyes remained fixed on Christ and the mission entrusted to him. True courage flows from unwavering trust in God rather than a guarantee of ease or success.
Paul’s determination challenges every believer to ask: Are we willing to stand firm for the gospel even when it costs us? Are we ready to follow God into the unknown, placing His will above our fears? Like the heroes of faith before him—Daniel in the lions’ den, Shadrach and his friends in the furnace, and Philip faithfully serving in Caesarea—Paul’s courage was fueled by the One who walks with us through every trial. Faith transforms fear into steadfast obedience and turns challenges into opportunities for God’s glory.
This passage invites reflection: What is your “Jerusalem”? What calling has God placed before you that requires bold faith? When we surrender fear to faith, the trials we face become the crucible of deeper devotion. How might stepping into the fire today shape your trust in God and strengthen your courage to follow Him wherever He leads?
