Hebrews 7:20-28
Hebrews 7:20–28 presents a striking contrast between the fleeting priesthood of humanity and the eternal ministry of Christ. Earthly priests came and went, bound by mortality and limited in their ability to atone for sin. Each offered sacrifices that could never fully satisfy, leaving the people in continual need. Then Jesus appeared—the ultimate High Priest, appointed by an unbreakable oath, whose intercession never ends and whose sacrifice is perfect and complete.
Unlike the priests who served temporarily, Christ’s priesthood is eternal. God Himself declared, “You are a priest forever,” sealing a ministry that transcends time, law, and human limitation. On the cross, He offered Himself once for all, bridging the gap between sinful humanity and a holy God. No more repeated rituals, no more temporary mediators—He alone stands as both the Priest and the Sacrifice, living forever to advocate for our souls.
In a world where human efforts fail and promises fade, the eternal priesthood of Jesus assures us that salvation is secure. His ministry continues in power and love, guiding, protecting, and interceding for all who trust in Him. As we reflect on this truth, we are called to rest in the unshakable assurance that the dying priests have passed, but our Savior lives forever. How does this eternal priesthood shape the way you approach God in prayer and faith today?
