Acts 20:1-16
The life of a faithful servant is rarely easy, but it is always purposeful. After chaos erupted in Ephesus, the apostle pressed forward — not retreating, not slowing down, but continuing to pour himself out for the people of God. Every city, every conversation, every late-night gathering became another opportunity to strengthen weary believers and remind them that the grace of Christ is worth every sacrifice. His heart burned for the church, and his hands bore the marks of love and labor.
Through dangerous roads and restless seas, he journeyed from place to place — from Ephesus to Macedonia, through Greece and back again — never losing sight of his calling. Plots and persecution shadowed his steps, yet he walked on with a courage that came only from heaven. Even when tragedy struck, as when a young listener fell from a window during a long night of teaching, God turned despair into delight. Life returned, hope was restored, and the Word once more proved its power to heal and revive.
This account reminds us that the work of the gospel is not for the faint of heart. True discipleship costs something. It calls us to perseverance, to endurance, and to love that keeps giving when comfort fades. The servant of Christ is sustained not by applause, but by the Spirit; not by ease, but by eternal purpose. The same grace that strengthened him still strengthens us — to rise when we’re weary, to serve when it’s costly, and to trust that no labor in the Lord is ever wasted.
How will you spend the time you’ve been given? Each day is a journey of faith, another chance to reflect the light of Christ in a world that desperately needs hope. Let your life, like his, leave behind more than words — let it leave behind a witness.
