Acts 1:1-11
In this message, we step into the dawn of a new era—the birth of the church and the unfolding of God’s redemptive plan through ordinary men and women empowered by the extraordinary Spirit. The book of Acts is more than history; it is the living story of the risen Christ continuing His work through His followers. Luke, the physician and companion of Paul, reminds us that Jesus’ mission did not end with His resurrection—it only began. His death secured salvation, but His resurrection launched a movement that continues through believers today.
Before ascending into heaven, Jesus gave His disciples a simple command: wait. Wait for the promise of the Father, the coming of the Holy Spirit, who would empower them to be His witnesses. From Jerusalem to Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth, they were to proclaim the gospel. Heaven’s plan began with a few faithful hearts willing to trust the risen Savior—and that same Spirit now dwells in all who believe.
As the disciples watched Him ascend in glory, angels reminded them of what was yet to come: He will return in the same way He left. This promise shapes how we live today. Every word of witness, every act of obedience, every transformed life is part of the ongoing story of Christ’s mission. The journey that began on the Mount of Olives continues in every heart surrendered to Jesus. How might you join in this ongoing story by proclaiming Him in your life today?
