Luke 10:1-16
In Luke 10:1–16, Jesus appoints seventy ordinary followers to carry an extraordinary message—the arrival of the Kingdom of God. These men and women were not renowned or influential; they were simply willing. Chosen and sent two by two, they went as ambassadors of truth, facing a world that often rejected them. Like lambs among wolves, they carried no possessions, received no provisions, and sought no comfort—only the assurance that the One who sent them would sustain them. Their mission was clear: proclaim peace, warn of judgment, and announce that the Kingdom of God had drawn near.
This passage reminds us that God delights in using those who seem insignificant by worldly standards. The Seventy were not scholars or leaders—they were servants whose hearts fully belonged to Christ. They trusted Him to guide every step, believing His power would be their provision. Today, the same call extends to every believer. The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few. The world walks toward judgment, yet Christ still sends His people to speak truth, offer peace, and stand firm even when rejected.
Every follower of Jesus bears this sacred responsibility: to represent the King until His return. The same Spirit that empowered the Seventy empowers us today. Will we answer the call, even when it costs comfort, convenience, or reputation? The world may overlook us, but heaven never will. Let us walk faithfully, sent by the Savior Himself, and live as His witnesses in every sphere of life.
Reflect for a moment: Are you willing to be sent, trusting Christ to provide and protect, even when the mission is difficult or unseen by the world? How might stepping into this calling change the way you live and serve?
