1 Corinthians 1:18-25
Human wisdom and divine truth often stand in stark contrast. Our culture prizes intellect, logic, and self-reliance, yet none of these can touch the heart of what truly matters — our relationship with God and our eternal destiny. In Corinth, as in our world today, many valued knowledge and philosophy above all, but Paul reminds us that human reasoning will always fall short. True understanding begins not in debate or intellect, but at the foot of the cross.
To the world, the message of the cross appears foolish, yet to those being saved, it is the very power of God. Salvation cannot be earned or deduced through reasoning; it must be received by faith. The cross exposes the limits of human wisdom and the depth of God’s love. While many pursue signs and proofs, God chooses what seems weak and simple to confound the proud and the wise. Christ crucified is both the wisdom and power of God — the only answer to sin and the source of eternal life.
The cross humbles our pride, silences our arguments, and redirects our hearts toward the One who alone saves. All human achievements fade, but the Word of the Cross endures forever. In its paradox lies the greatest truth: the weakness of God is stronger than men, and His seeming foolishness surpasses all human understanding. How might embracing the simplicity and power of Christ crucified transform the way you view strength, wisdom, and life itself?
