Luke 7:36-50
Few moments in Scripture are as tender, humbling, and transformative as when a broken woman knelt at the feet of Jesus. In this passage, salvation is not spoken in words but expressed through tears—a melody of redemption and a heart made new by grace. Her story invites us to witness the depth of God’s mercy and the power of repentance that flows from a humble heart.
At a Pharisee’s dinner, surrounded by rules, judgment, and religion, she enters uninvited, carrying a costly alabaster vial of perfume. Her past is notorious, her shame public, yet she pours out her most precious gift at His feet. Her tears cleanse, her hair wipes, her kisses worship; in silence, her heart declares, “I have been forgiven much.” While the proud saw only sin, Jesus saw faith—faith that understood what merit could not achieve: forgiveness is freely given, received by grace alone.
In that quiet act of devotion, the gospel comes alive. True cleansing is not about outward appearances, but about fully surrendering to Christ. The same grace that washed her feet reaches us today, inviting our hearts to meet His mercy and respond in love, gratitude, and peace. How might your life change if you approached Jesus with that same openness and humility, letting His forgiveness flow through every part of your heart?
