Genesis 7:1-5
Genesis presents a sobering truth: there comes a time when God’s patience reaches its limit. After centuries of mercy and repeated opportunities for repentance, the floodwaters of judgment arrived. God said to Noah, “Enter the ark, for the time has come.” For 120 years, Noah faithfully built the ark, warning a world too busy, proud, and unbelieving to listen. When the rain fell, only eight souls were saved, showing that mercy delayed is not mercy denied, but judgment was now unavoidable.
This passage reminds us that God’s patience is real, yet finite. His mercy invites repentance, not complacency. Just as the people of Noah’s day ignored the warning, the world today often turns away from the signs of coming judgment. But hope remains: the ark of salvation still stands open — and that ark is Jesus Christ. He alone offers rescue from the flood of sin and wrath, providing the refuge, covenant, and eternal safety we cannot find anywhere else.
“Overdue” is more than a historical account — it is a spiritual call. The flood warns us to prepare our hearts, to enter the ark of Christ before it’s too late. The time for obedience is now, the call of salvation is now. Tomorrow may be too late. Will you enter before the door is closed?
