Psalm 67:1-7
Psalm 67 begins with a plea for mercy, reminding us that every relationship with God must start with grace. “Be gracious to us,” the psalmist cries, reflecting the heart of anyone who knows their need for forgiveness. God does not choose based on achievement or status, but by the sincerity of a heart that loves Him. Out of His compassion, He blesses His people — not only for their own good, but so that His ways may be known and His salvation proclaimed among all nations.
This psalm calls us to pause — to Selah — and recognize that every blessing carries divine purpose. We are blessed to be a blessing, forgiven to offer forgiveness, and strengthened to serve. The psalmist’s prayer becomes our mission: that God’s goodness would shine through His people, drawing the world to praise His name. Mercy flows into purpose, and grace transforms into action, as we participate in the unfolding of His plan.
Through faith, we see the Lord’s hand sustaining the earth and providing for His people. The fruitfulness of life and the joy of salvation are all rooted in Him. When God blesses, it is not for comfort alone, but so that the ends of the earth might stand in awe of His glory. Psalm 67 reminds us that our joy, strength, and hope are found only in Christ. How might we live today in a way that reflects His mercy and spreads His fame across the nations?
