John 17:11-19
Jesus offers one of the most tender and powerful prayers recorded in Scripture — a prayer for those who belong to Him yet remain in a world that often rejects God. “Holy Father, keep them in Your name.” In these words, He intercedes for our protection, unity, and sanctification. Though we live in a world filled with noise, temptation, and hostility, our hearts beat to a different rhythm. We are in the world but not of it, strangers beside the house, with our true home in the Father.
Jesus does not ask that we be removed from the world but that we be kept from the evil one. We are called to shine as light in darkness, to bear truth where culture has lost its way. Christ intercedes for us — at the right hand of the Father, with the Holy Spirit within — that we might be strengthened, purified, and filled with His joy. This calling is not a call to isolation but to holiness; not fear, but faith. The Son sanctified Himself for our sake, setting Himself apart to die so that we might live for Him.
We are not abandoned. We are protected and kept by the Holy Father through the name of His Son. In a world that grows darker, our calling shines brighter: to live outside the house, yet never outside His presence. How might this prayer of Jesus shape the way you navigate the challenges and temptations of the world today?
