John 6:35-51
Misunderstanding can fracture hearts and distort truth, but to misunderstand Jesus is to miss eternal life. In John 6, Jesus stands in the synagogue of Capernaum and declares, “I am the Bread of Life.” Though the crowd had witnessed His miracles and tasted His provision, they failed to grasp His message. They sought temporary satisfaction, longing for bread that perishes, while He offered sustenance for eternity.
Christ speaks to every heart still chasing fleeting fulfillment. The crowd remembered manna in the wilderness, yet Jesus revealed a greater provision: the true bread from heaven, meant to satisfy the soul, not the stomach. He promises, “Whoever comes to Me shall never hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst.” In Him, the restless find peace, the guilty find forgiveness, and the weary find rest beyond measure.
We are not accidents of faith; we are gifts from the Father to the Son, drawn by grace, held by mercy, and secured forever in His hands. The same Jesus who fed thousands now offers Himself as the living bread—broken for redemption, given for salvation. His invitation remains: turn to Him and live. How might embracing the Bread of Life today transform the longings, struggles, and hopes of your heart?
