Luke 16:1-13
In one of His most challenging parables, Jesus tells the story of the dishonest steward, a narrative that at first seems perplexing. How could a corrupt man receive praise? Beneath the surface lies a timeless lesson: the way we manage earthly resources reveals the condition of our hearts and the depth of our faith. Everything we have — time, money, influence — is entrusted to us by God. We are stewards, not owners, called to use these gifts with eternal perspective.
Jesus teaches that the measure of our stewardship is found not in accumulation, but in how we invest for lasting impact. Just as the steward used resources to secure temporary favor, God calls us to channel our wealth, skills, and opportunities toward eternal purposes — lives changed, souls touched, and hearts drawn closer to Him. What the world prizes as success is fleeting; what God values is enduring, marked by faithfulness and generosity that echo beyond the present moment.
Faithful stewardship is revealed in small acts of obedience and generosity, each carrying eternal significance. Every hour spent, every resource shared, every effort devoted to His kingdom matters infinitely. Are we investing wisely in what lasts, or chasing treasures that fade? The question lingers: how will we steward the gifts God has entrusted to us, ensuring our investments bear fruit that endures into eternity?
