Mark 8:22-26
When Jesus entered a world shrouded in darkness, He brought more than healing—He brought light. In this remarkable passage, a blind man is brought to Christ by compassionate friends, and Jesus, in His tender care, restores his sight not all at once, but in stages. At first, the man sees indistinctly, “men like trees, walking,” and only after a second touch does his vision become clear. This miracle is more than physical—it is a living parable of spiritual sight and growth.
God often works in our lives gradually, opening our spiritual eyes step by step. Like the blind man, we may perceive truth dimly, faith faintly, and grace imperfectly. Yet when Jesus touches our hearts again, clarity comes. The fog lifts, light floods in, and we begin to see life, God’s truth, and His glory with new vision. This process reminds us that spiritual transformation is ongoing, requiring patience, trust, and continual surrender to Christ.
Only Jesus can pierce the darkness of sin and reveal the fullness of His grace. Yet, just as many in Bethsaida witnessed His power and refused to believe, people today still cling to blindness over light. This story calls us to allow Him to finish what He has begun in our lives. When we invite His touch again, we begin to see clearly—truth, life, and the Savior Himself. Reflect: Are you allowing Jesus to open your eyes fully, step by step, so you can see Him in all His glory?
