2 Corinthians 12:11-21
2 Corinthians 12:11–21 invites us into the heart of the Apostle Paul, a heart fully poured out for Christ and His people. Here we see not a proud leader defending his reputation, but a humble shepherd deeply grieved over the spiritual well-being of those he loves. Paul’s words reveal a timeless truth: to love as Christ loves is to give without reserve, not for applause or reward, but for the eternal good of others.
Paul emphasizes that his ministry was marked by sincerity, endurance, and sacrificial love, reflecting the example of Jesus, who came not to be served, but to serve and give His life as a ransom for many. Even in the face of rejection, Paul poured out his time, energy, resources, and heart, seeking the restoration of souls to Christ. This is the essence of the gospel — love that costs, love that transforms, love that perseveres.
The call to “spend and be spent” still resounds today. True devotion is measured not by words, but by willingness — to serve when unnoticed, to forgive when wronged, and to love when love is not returned. Like Paul, we are invited to pour ourselves out for the glory of Christ, trusting that nothing given to Him is ever wasted. How might your life change if you chose to give yourself fully for the good of others, knowing Christ fills what is spent with His endless grace?
