Luke 19:11-27
As Jesus approached Jerusalem, the city buzzed with expectation. Crowds longed for a kingdom of earthly power, deliverance, and triumph—but the Lord revealed a different reality. Through the parable of the nobleman, He showed that His journey to the Father was not the end, but the beginning of a greater plan. Jesus would ascend, be crowned with glory, and one day return to establish justice and reward faithfulness.
The story draws a clear line between hearts that serve faithfully and those that squander their calling. The faithful invest their gifts, trusting that even small acts done for Christ hold eternal significance. The unfaithful hide what they’ve been given, letting fear or apathy rob them of blessing. And some outright reject the King, declaring, “We do not want this man to rule over us.” Yet the parable ends with certainty: the King will return, and every life will answer to His reign.
This teaching challenges us to live with purpose and vigilance. Faith is never passive—it’s active, daily obedience, and devoted service while we wait for Christ’s return. His delay is not denial but mercy, offering every person the chance to repent and serve. The horizon glows brighter with the promise of His coming. Will you meet the King as Judge or Savior? How are you investing what He has entrusted to you while you await His return?
