Micah 1:1-7
The Book of Micah opens with thunder—a bold declaration from a humble prophet whose very name asks, “Who is like the Lord our God?” Though from the countryside, Micah was chosen to deliver a message that would shake kings and nations. His prophecy begins not with comfort, but with confrontation. God speaks with holiness and authority, and when He moves, mountains tremble and valleys are split. This is not anger without reason, but the righteous response of a patient God whose mercy has been met with rebellion.
Israel and Judah had traded true worship for idols of pride and prosperity. Their cities shone, but their hearts were hollow. Religion remained, yet reverence was gone. In His mercy, God sent Micah—not to destroy, but to call His people back. His words burn like fire, warning the arrogant, yet they are filled with love, pointing toward repentance. “The Lord is coming forth from His place,” Micah declares, ready to judge, but also to redeem.
For us today, The Coming Storm is more than history—it is a mirror. The patterns of greed, corruption, and empty religion are still present in our world. God’s call through His Word remains urgent: turn before judgment falls. The storm on the horizon reminds us of His holiness, yet His grace remains for those who seek Him. While the coming judgment is certain, shelter and salvation are offered under the cross of Christ. How will you respond to His call before the storm arrives?
