Acts 28:17-31
The book of Acts closes, yet the story of the Church continues. In the final chapter, Luke records Paul’s ministry in Rome—a chapter that is both an ending and a new beginning. Though still chained as a prisoner, Paul stands unashamed, unafraid, and unwavering. His mission presses on, his message resonates, and his faith remains unbroken. From a humble rented house in the heart of a sprawling empire, the gospel shines brighter than ever. What began in Jerusalem has reached Rome, and from there, it spreads to the ends of the earth.
Paul’s words to the Jewish leaders in Rome reveal the heart of God’s redemptive plan: salvation in Christ is for all people—Jew and Gentile alike. Some received the message, others rejected it, yet the gospel remained unstoppable. Even in confinement, Paul welcomed every visitor, teaching and proclaiming the kingdom of God “with all boldness and without hindrance.” The Word of God could not be chained.
Acts ends abruptly, but intentionally, because the work of the Holy Spirit has not stopped. The same Spirit who empowered Paul empowers believers today. We are part of this living story—continuing the mission through our obedience, our witness, and our faith. Every act, every word, every step of trust adds a new chapter to God’s unfolding story of redemption. The journey goes on, and the pen is in our hands—how will you write the next chapter of the Church’s mission in your life?
