Acts 15:12-21
Life often feels like a rocky road, full of obstacles, misunderstandings, and unexpected twists. In Acts 15:12–21, we see that even the early church faced similar challenges. As new believers from diverse backgrounds came to faith, questions arose about salvation, grace, and what it truly means to follow God. Some sought to add human effort to divine grace, while others risked burdening their brothers and sisters with unnecessary traditions. Through the wisdom of Peter, Paul, Barnabas, and James, God revealed a timeless truth: salvation is by grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Nothing more. Nothing less.
But grace does not remove responsibility. James reminded the church that freedom in Christ is not freedom to cause others to stumble. The road of faith is already challenging; believers are called to walk gently, bearing one another’s burdens, choosing peace over pride, and unity over division. The “law of Christ” is a law of love — guiding us to set aside personal rights for the good of others, to build bridges rather than walls, and to clear paths for those still finding their way to Jesus.
Our calling is clear: don’t make the journey harder for others. Instead, help them walk it well. Grace saves us, love directs us, and Christ strengthens us on this rocky road. Every hardship, every test, every uneven step reminds us that we are not walking alone — we are moving together toward glory, supported by the One who makes our path straight and our hearts steadfast.
