Genesis 46:1-34
Faith is often tested most deeply when God’s promises seem to be taking longer than expected. Jacob knew what it meant to live with unanswered questions, painful loss, and years of believing that his beloved son Joseph was gone. Yet when Jacob discovered that Joseph was alive and serving in Egypt, he did not simply rush ahead. Before continuing the journey, he stopped to worship God and seek His direction.
That moment reveals something important about genuine faith. Jacob was willing to follow God even when the road ahead took him away from the land he had been promised. At Beersheba, the Lord reassured him that he did not need to be afraid, because God would go with him. The circumstances may have been unfamiliar, but God's presence and His promises remained certain.
Jacob's reunion with Joseph after more than twenty years is a beautiful reminder that God's timing is not measured by our expectations. What had appeared to be a devastating loss was not the end of the story. The Lord was continuing to work through circumstances Jacob could not see or understand. Eventually, Jacob stood face to face with the son he had believed was dead, and the long season of waiting gave way to joy and peace.
There is encouragement here for every believer who is walking through uncertainty. Delayed answers do not mean forgotten promises. Fear, confusion, and difficult circumstances cannot change the faithfulness of God. Our lives are meant to reflect Christ not merely in what we say we believe, but in the character, trust, and perseverance that develop as we walk with Him.
A faith deeply rooted in Jesus Christ will not easily fade when circumstances change. It becomes part of who we are. When God's plan looks different from what you expected, will you continue trusting His presence and holding firmly to His promises?
