God Tests Abraham
Genesis 22

There are moments in life when faith is not merely tested but purified in the fire of obedience. On a quiet mountain long ago, one man’s trust in God became the measure of faith for all who would follow. Abraham, who once believed the impossible promise of a son, now faced a command that defied reason and pierced the deepest part of his heart. The God who gave Isaac now asked for him back. With trembling hands and steadfast resolve, Abraham rose early and began the ascent toward Mount Moriah, carrying not just wood and fire—but the weight of surrender.

Each step was a question. Each breath, a prayer. Isaac walked beside him, unaware of the divine mystery unfolding. When the boy asked, “Where is the lamb?” Abraham’s reply echoed through eternity: “God Himself will provide.” In that moment, faith reached its highest expression—not in certainty, but in trust. And just as the knife was lifted, heaven’s voice broke through the silence. The test was complete. A ram, caught in the thicket, stood as the substitute—an image of the provision that would one day come through another Son, offered for the world.

On that mountain, Abraham named the place Jehovah Jireh—“The Lord Will Provide.” It remains a name whispered by hearts that still wrestle with surrender. His story reminds us that true faith is not about understanding every command of God, but believing His goodness even when the path is hard to see. For those who walk with Him still, the same truth endures: God provides, God redeems, and His promises never fail.
